Just imagine living in a world without mirrors. You'd dream about your face and imagine it as an outer reflection of what is inside you. And then, when you reached forty, someone put a mirror before you for the first time in your life. Imagine your fright! You'd see the face of a stranger. And you'd know quite clearly what you are unable to grasp: your face is not you. ― Milan Kundera, Immortality
Dalal AlSindi's expression in her first solo exhibition expresses the lack and fullness of ego we suffer as individuals. Her practice as an art therapist has a deep effect on her work in terms of psychological expression and rawness seen in her paintings. Establishing the first art therapy centre in Bahrain in 2012, the Art Therapy Centre, Dalal offers an international approach to art therapy tempered with a local understanding and appreciation of Bahrain’s culture and people.
