As a British-Bahraini artist, Eskander Dawani's journey has been one of discovery and definition as he paints with the clashing colors of both worlds.
While navigating through the many facets and forms of art that have both emboldened and enriched his searching of self, Eskander has drawn from diverse sources that not only come from the realms of painting, but from the resonating influences of music, writing, poetry and fashion, all of which come to life upon the canvas. He has also been greatly influenced by a number of celebrated artists, such as poet and musician Leonard Cohen, to Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, and Italian-born artist Francesco Clemente.
Eskander’s collection of contemporary portraits are painted mirrors that reflect back the illusion of self and his combined passions, observations and interpretations of how people dress and adorn themselves in makeup and the masks they wear. We invite you to the mysterious world of Eskander Dawani, a place of stillness that comes alive before you, as he breathes life into a world of portraits through the inertia of examination.
All are welcome!
