The Generous Light Co.

  • Words Bookstore Cafe (map)

The Generous Light Co. is a lifestyle brand established in 2015 by entrepreneur Noora Al Zain & artist Karima Sharabi.  They  produce and sell artistic gift items that connect cultures, empower through knowledge, create awareness & better people's lives.  Through the sale of their products, their social media campaigns and other events, they try t to “always inspire a positive change for a better today & a greater tomorrow.”.

"TGLC supports and invests in artists and designers whose creations reflect this vision and our core values of freedom, inspiration, awareness and oneness.  We truly believe that art is the most peaceful and subtle means of expression. By turning artwork into products that people can potentially wear, use, and keep with them wherever they go, the artist’s work, as well as our core values they represent, will reach a wider audience.  We aim to spread peace, love and “light.”
"Our first brand Chamkana does just that.  Chamkana means “to shine” in Urdu and is based on the work of artist Karima Sharabi and her Mystical Arabic tattoo designs.  For her first collection she created 12 totems or symbols using Arabic words representing humanities potential for peace and enlightenment. You can read more about her artwork on our website.

Most people are familiar with the Chamkana line of gold-plated jewelry and T-shirts but we are excited to introduce a new range of products at the Words pop-up shop!
With an emphasis on artists and designers from the Arab World, TGLC also aims to change any negative perceptions people have of the Middle East. We want to highlight the beauty and all-encompassing spirituality of our region and relate that to the beauty and spirituality of other cultures and places we visit on our travels. Our brand, in essence, is cross-cultural and inclusive, a voice to which people worldwide can relate and from which they can learn.
