The Adventures of Ms. Swivelhead
Thirteen year old Jeera loves science, especially the laws of physics. This does not win popularity contests at her school, especially when she presents her home made time machine on the day that her regular teacher is absent from class. Jeera is mocked by some of her peers in front of the whole class even though the substitute teacher offers her support. Jeera's resolve and determination to prove her classmates wrong in greatly strengthened as a result of their ridicule. What will it take to get them to believe her and leave her alone?
Michelle (Elsbury) Chuaikaitum is a lifelong learner and educator. Inspired by her Peace Corps Volunteer experience (1997 - 1999) as well as her students, she returned home to Hawaii and earned a master's degree in education. Ms Chuaikaitum believes that travelling is another form of education and has many places she calls home: Hawaii, Illinois, California, The Gambia, West Africa, Thailand, and Bahrain. The inspiration of Ms Swivelhead and Jeera occured while teaching the amazing students from the class of 2016 at Ibn Khuldoon National School.
