An introduction to music therapy, this workshop will focus on music therapy for children with various needs such as motor and coordination problems, speech/language/communication and cognitive delays, Down syndrome, developmental delays, children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as for parents of young children who want to boost their child's development.
Participants will learn how music therapy addresses cognitive, communicative, sensorimotor, social, and emotional development. The workshop will have an experiential part, where Aksana will demonstrate some Therapeutic Music Interventions (TMI) and lead a drum/rhythm circle.

Aksana Kavaliova-Moussi is an Accredited Music Therapist, with an Honors Bachelor of Music Therapy from the University of Windsor (Canada), and Master of Music in Music Therapy from Colorado State University (USA). She also completed her training in Neurologic Music Therapy.
She has almost 10 years of clinical experience, working with children and adolescents with various special needs, expectant mothers, cancer survivors, pediatric hospital patients, oncology patients, as well as people in hospice and palliative care.
Aksana is a professional member of the World Federation of Music Therapy and the Canadian and American music therapy associations. She is the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Liaison for the World Federation and is Co- Chair of the international Online Conference for Music Therapy. She has published several articles in the international journals, and presented in Canada, Austria, Bahrain, Russia and online.
